What is the Birth Control Implant (Nexplanon)?

The birth control implant (commonly known as "Nexplanon") is a small device containing hormones that is inserted directly under the skin in your arm to help prevent pregnancy.

The birth control implant protects against pregnancy for up to three (3) years.

The birth control implant is 99.9% effective in preventing pregnancy.

Do I still need to use a condom if I have an implant?

YES. The implant does NOT protect you against STDs and/or HIV.  You should still use a condom for protection against these.
