The Birth Control Vaginal Ring (commonly known by the brand name "Nuva Ring") is a ring that contains hormones that you insert into your vagina once a month. The ring stays in place for 3 weeks then is removed from the vagina for one week before a new one is put in.
When used correctly the ring is 99.9% effective at preventing pregnancy.
You don’t have to worry about the Nuva Ring falling out, because the muscles in your vagina keep it in place.
If the ring does happen to fall out, you can rinse it off with cool or lukewarm water and place it back into your vagina. If it has been out for more than three (3) hours call the clinic right away for instructions on what to do.
YES. The ring does NOT protect you against STDs and/or HIV. You should still use a condom for protection against these.
Please visit these trusted websites for more questions that you have on the ring or other birth control options.
